When I think of “Relationship,”

I imagine watching the other shoe dropping

Not safety in holding each other

Falling asleep

Nearly four years in, my shoe  hasn’t fallen

Fingers trace paths across the length

of your collarbone

Because of you, I am a step-mum–

a woman-child to love

and hold loosely in my arms

steadfast in my heart

It’s not magic why we exist as a family;

Self love, patience and being vulnerable

have grown the threads that bind us

    1. Just read your “Old Man and Student” poem. Truly beautiful and so true. 🙂
