Music prompt #4: “Queen of the Night” from The Magic Flute by Mozart

Wonderful interpretation 🙂 I really enjoy the flow and give/take throughout the poem

For the music prompt: Music Friday Prompt #4 “Queen of the Night” from The Magic Flute by Mozart

Since it is (in this context) just a source of inspiration, I have not taken care to analyze the opera in its context and just looked at this section. While the mother is claiming that her daughter was taken against her will, I got the sense of eloping and escaping tyranny.  Could be way off the intended meaning.

Breaking battle

autonomy a memory a fading vapor

a dream for those guilty of folly

fleeting for those whose life flickers

true for those endlessly sleeping

as a spark leaves the hearth

with a trail of fire and light

breaking the absolute boundary

of local divinity and the self

a golem awakens, slowly reviving

infected with commands to retake

to wrap the boundary around the ember

impose devotion to the divine here and now
