Paper Dance

She arrived late
To the Society Masquerade
Covered her humanity with paper
Coat-checked her eyes
Smudges occupied the space cloaked in
Electronic colored light
Silence shattered her ears
Actions speak louder than words
She picked out a pseudo from the table
To watch a paper play

Jumping out of my regular prompt routine to participate in Literary Saturday, hosted by The Rattling Bones. Lori Carlson, the illustrious host, provides the a literary quote for inspiration. I really enjoyed the challenge and look forward to participating in more of her prompts.

Today’s quote comes from “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck:

“Maybe ever’body in the whole damn world is scared of each other.”
