What I Do Know…A Free Form Poem

I Know:

  • most of the Greek alphabet from compulsory afterschool Latin class in a retired teacher’s house
  • phonetic alphabet which cost me thirty years in loans and six years in college
  •  during the “Hundred Year Flood” in East Grand Forks, MN in the Spring of 1997, we were evacuated to a convent for two months
  • how to make “egg in a hole” from my Grandmother who passed away almost twelve years ago
  • the value of a spot in the sun hidden away from others every summer at the lake down by the old dam
  • never to let your friend talk me into taking over the bike seat leaving me with the handlebars
  • to never forget that I was also that young once
  • to never give up no matter the distance or time between you and your children

For my NaPoWriMo poem for today, I was inspired to write a poem about what I do know.

  1. I loved reading this! I wouldn’t even know where to start with the Greek Alphabet
