This challenge from Mindlovesmisery today really wracked my brain–in fact I interrupted my own poem to complain(just a teensy bit).
Here’s the puzzle:
”
The wordle contains 12 words those words are:
Madcap (wildly impulsive, heedless)
Blister
Strap
Aureole (a halo)
Accident
Howl
Gnaw
Flagellation (flogging, associated most frequently with BDSM or religious penitence)
Craven (cowardly)
Scale
Victim
Shelf
Rules
Use at least 10 of the words to create a story or poem
The words can appear in an alternate form
Use the words in any order that you like.”

Three hour uphill hike along the “Black Diamond” trail
Symbol denoting one level below lung flagellation
Childlike curiosity drives me upward and onward
While he is naming blisters somewhere below
An old woman crossed our path to the famous rock shelf
TWO walking sticks, otherworld fashion victim
If she can scale the Black Diamond–
Howl of hunger (or perhaps pain)
Oh yeah, he’s behind me again!
[stepping out of this poem for a moment
Trying to write a good piece with these words is quite a madcap event!
Three more to go, oh where to place them?
Shall I focus on the near accident tripping over a misplaced root?
The backpack strap that gnawed into my shoulders creating bruises?
Or the twain aureole that danced before my eyes—a self inflicted selfie?]
Ta Da! Perhaps I’m not a craven maven 🙂
And a fine job you did too!
Sometimes the words lists are a challenge but that’s what makes them fun.
Thanks for the visit and the ‘ping’ thing.

Perhaps you are not. This was a clever way to use the words, I like how you whittled it down to the end…..well done.
